Mirosław Ruszała ze Stowarzyszenia EKOSKOP i prof. Łukasz Łuczaj z Uniwersytetu Rzeszowskiego postulowali większą ochronę starych drzew w lasach. Były też głosy o przeciwnym brzmieniu. Z kolei dyrektor Mazur wrócił do meritum konferencji wskazując m.in. na problem zasiedlenie starych drzew przez jemiołę i wynikające stąd wyzwania dotyczące trwałości lasu. Natomiast dr Janusz Dawidziuk, dyrektor Biura Urządzania Lasu stwierdził, że jest tu pole do kompromisu w użytkowaniu zasobów leśnych.
